We thought it’d be like… ✨cool✨ and ✨fun✨ to get the greatest meat-eater of all time to rep Impossible Foods. Nathan’s hot dogs disagreed.
The story was featured on Stephen Colbert, The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, The New York Post, CNN, PR Week, ESPN, USA Today, Good Morning America, People Magazine, TMZ Sports, Jimmy Kimmel, BBC (finally we gave the Brits tea on Independence Day), and more. The Founding Fathers were brought into the discussion, which is especially funny because if George Washington took one bite of a hot dog his organs would probably explode.
We turned the hot dog lemons Nathan’s gave Joey into hot dog lemonade with an Impossible Foods’ sponsored Fourth of July charity event at Fort Bliss. We donated $1000 for every hot dog eaten between Joey and the four army veterans he was competing against (which led to a last minute scramble to update the PRE-PRINTED GIGANTIC CHECK we were presenting at the end of the competition. See pic below.)
I followed Joey around to capture content for the livestream and photos for PR. 136K views on the livestream, and the photos/video were featured in NPR, ESPN, and others.
